If you do not own a Sony PSP, then you should know that this news story is NOT about DVDs...so don't say we didn't warn you!
Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has announced this morning that they are bringing out the first multi-cartridge PSP videos to help promote the Sony-made videogame system that's being used as a portable entertainment system by many. Instead of a film or any music videos, the content of these multi-UMD videos are a pair of TV shows:
Good Times and
Sanford & Son.
Good Times - The Complete 1st Season is "dynomite!" for the PSP on
November 1st, in a 2-UMD-cartridge set that will go for a $29.95 list price. Esther Rolle, John Amos, and Jimmie Walker all star in the classic televsion series, brought to a strictly-portable format for the first time.
The other one coming out on the same day,
November 1st, is Redd Foxx and Demond Wilson in
Sanford & Son - The 1st Season. This one is slated to be a 3-UMD-cartridge set that will go for the same price, $29.95 SRP. Amazon.com is already
taking pre-orders for this item, for a $22.46 discounted price. We have the cover art for this particular item, and it looks the same as most other PSP/UMD releases, including thickness. That leaves us wondering if this is just a mock-up, or if this is the actual case and they've somehow found a way to squeeze 3 of the UMD cartridges into the same space. We're not sure, but I guess all of us PSP owners will know for sure come November!
