Video Business, the inside-the-industry trade mag, reports (registration required) that various syndicated shows produced under the Entertainment Studios shingle will be headed to DVD. Former Fox publicity exec Deborah Mitchell is leading the effort, which begins with a pair of offerings that are Byron Allen (chairman of ES) hosted interview shows. SEPT. 17 | Celebrity-TV maven Byron Allen is turning his syndicated programming into DVDs.
Entertainment Studios Home Entertainment--Entertainment Studios' new home video unit, topped by former 20th Century Fox marketing exec Deborah Mitchell--will release discs from the interview series Entertainers With Byron Allen, now in its 11th season, and Kickin' It With Byron Allen, in its eighth. Allen is chairman-CEO of Entertainment Studios, which owns 3,000 hours of original programming.
Mitchell also will hunt for original DVD content, including films and comic specialty product. Other TV properties now set for DVD release by the fledgling unit include The American Athlete, EntertainmentStudios.com, Recipe TV Featuring the World's Greatest Chefs, Global Business People, Every Woman and Beautiful Homes & Great Estates.
At Fox, Mitchell developed promotional campaigns for such video projects as The Star Wars Trilogy, Mrs. Doubtfire and Soul Food.
Mitchell will report to Allen.
