Internet forums were buzzing late last night as people discovered Warner's consumer Hi Def website included unannounced titles due to a temporary glitch. Included in the list are theatrical movies that haven't even premiered at the box office, including Get Smart and Dark Knight (the sequel to Batman Begins).
There were a couple of TV shows in the list, including the first seasons of Friends and Smallville, the direct-to-video TV-related adaption of the Justice League: The New Frontier graphic novel, all on Blu-ray and HD DVD, plus the 7th season of The West Wing on HD DVD. Fans of The West Wing will remember the set showed up in a flyer for release on HD DVD and Blu-ray, but was never released, so the list on the Warner Hi Def set includes discs that were planned at one time, then stopped for whatever reason.
The first seasons of Friends and Smallville could be announced in the coming weeks or months, or they could be titles that were considered for the formats like The West Wing. Only time will tell, but in the meantime we suspect there's someone at Warner who will be in trouble on Monday morning for letting this behind-the-scenes planning info be seen on a public site.
