With
upcoming Blu-ray Disc releases of hot TV shows such as
Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, Pushing Daisies, Heroes, Stargate: Continuum, Torchwood, Grey's Anatomy, Mad Men and more, plus continuing Blu-ray releases from programs like
Lost, Smallville, Prison Break and
Weeds, you might be starting to drool over all these "TV-on-BD" releases. But with times being tough, the "$400-on-up" pricetag of a Blu-ray Disc player, so often mentioned on the news, might be a bit more than you're willing to plunk down.
Recently Wal-Mart has been selling one player, though, at an everyday price of just $298.00: the Magnavox NB500MG9 (pictured below). At that price it's obviously not the highest-end player on the market (for example, it's profile 1.1 level instead of profile 2.0), but it gets the job done for most people.
How about saving another hundred bucks on top of that? Next week, June 8th through the 14th (and just in time for Father's Day on June 15th!), Wal-mart is offering to give a $100 Wal-Mart Gift Card to anyone who purchases ANY Blu-ray Disc players in their stores. This, in effect, brings the net price of the NB500MG9 unit down to $198; a great introductory price for anyone who has an HDTV set and wants to get the most out of it.
To further spice up the deal, Wal-Mart will also have a selection of Blu-ray movies on sale for $15 each, during the same time period or while supplies last. For more details about Wal-Mart's Blu-ray offers for next week, please read
