Animation historian Jerry Beck is the man behind the bonus material and much, much more on DVD releases for Looney Tunes, several Tom & Jerry collection, Woody Woodpecker, and Popeye the Sailor...and other DVDs, besides. He's got a ton of book credits to his name, used to teach on the subject of animation at universities like UCLA and NYU, and is the "brewmaster" of a terrific animation-oriented blog called Cartoon Brew which ought to be among your bookmarks, if it isn't already. Jerry will be available tomorrow (Feb. 27th) on Stu's Show, part of Shokus Internet Radio, to take your questions and give out info on his upcoming projects. No pressure, Jerry, but we're hoping you can tell us a bit more about the extras on Warner's upcoming Popeye the Sailor - Volume 2: 1938-1940 set! Tune in, because he'll surely be talking about that release as well as the also-upcoming Universal release for The Woody Woodpecker and Friends Classic Cartoon Collection: Volume 2. Here is the official press release info for Jerry's appearance on Stu's Show tomorrow, including how to find it and when to tune in! Jerry Beck, noted author of over 12 books on the history of classic animation, as well as the supervising producer for both Warner Brothers and Universal Studios' animation DVD releases, will make his sixth appearance (his first for 2008) on "Stu's Show", the signature program on Shokus Internet Radio ( www.shokusradio.com) this Wednesday, February 27 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. PST. Stu will make this next edition with Jerry an "open forum", meaning the phone lines will be available near the beginning of the program so listeners can call the toll-free number, (888) SHOKUS-5 (888-746-5875) and ask Jerry anything they want pertaining to the world of animation. Scheduled topics for this edition will include the recently-released "Warner Brothers Home Entertainment Academy Awards Animation Collection", as well as the upcoming "Woody Woodpecker and Friends Volume 2" DVD release from Universal, and the "Popeye the Sailor Volume 2" box due this summer from WB. In addition, Stu and Jerry will continue their discussion on the history of the Terrytoons cartoon studio and whether those classics will ever be released on DVD. "Stu's Show" airs live each Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. PST on Shokus Internet Radio ( www.shokusradio.com), with rebroadcasts at the same time daily.
