Shout! Factory is releasing
Merry Sitcom! on
November 3rd, a 170-minute DVD which collects jolly episodes from several different classic TV shows. The box art, shown below, shows that episodes are from several programs that Shout! has previously released on DVD:
That Girl, McHale's Navy and
Father Knows Best. They've also apparently struck a deal to include episodes from
Bewitched and
The Flying Nun, which have been released on DVD in the past by Sony Pictures Home Entertainment, and also
The Donna Reed Show, which is presently getting releases on DVD from Virgil Films and Entertainment.
Brian Ward, Shout!'s DVD producer for this release, has also revealed at the studio's official message board that "the Christmas episode of
Window On Main Street, titled 'Christmas Memory', will be included in our
Merry Sitcom holiday compilation as a bonus." The
Window on Main Street series was Robert Young's next prime time series after
Father Knows Best.
These "Christmas Classics from TV's Golden Age" (as the DVD's subtitle describes the release) will cost just $12.99 SRP, but you can pre-order it from Amazon at a discount. We don't have the precise list of featured episodes on this release yet, but stay tuned and we'll bring it to you if we get it.
