The folks at Shout! Factory are putting together a neat package that will appeal to kids, to folks who grew up watching these classics, and to television historians (both amatuer and possibly the pros).
Hiya, Kids!!: A '50s Saturday Morning will be a 4-DVD set collecting 21 different shows into one nice package running 570 minutes. Programs included are:
- Kukla, Fran & Ollie
- Howdy Doody
- Lassie
- Annie Oakley
- Flash Gordon
- Ding Dong School
- Time For Beany
- The Paul Winchell Show
- The Roy Rogers Show
- Captain Z-RO
- The Rootie Kazootie Club
- Winky Dink & You
- Super Circus
- Andy’s Gang
- The Cisco Kid
- Sky King
- The Magic Clown
- Kids & Company
- Juvenile Jury
- The Pinky Lee Show
- Sheena, Queen of the Jungle
Each show title will get one episode, except for
The Magic Clown (which gets 2). There are no extras included on this set, but it will still be a great look into Kid TV of the era. And it might be cool to compare these against
similar DVDs from other eras.
The cost for Shout! Factory's 4-DVD collection will be $34.99 SRP. It blasts into stores on
May 6th.
Flash Gordon is featured on the cover art, along with an imitative youth and his parents:
