Recent releases of Sony TV-DVDs, such as
Damages and the second season of
Barney Miller, include a brand-new insert pamphlet that advertises other TV-related products from the studio. The back of the booklet, seen below, includes a familiar-looking list of "more titles from Sony" that they want to make sure you know about. On this one, it shows several "COMING SOON!" items in red ink:
Party of Five - Season 3 (which was
already announced),
Just Shoot Me - Season 3, Bewitched - Season 6 and
I Dream of Jeannie - Season 5.
In another recent
Sony-related report, we closed by mentioning that we'd asked the studio about the latter two, and were reassured that they were in the works, but weren't ready to be announced yet. As many of you know,
Just Shoot Me had a single release with the first two seasons on it, way back in June 2004, and hasn't been seen since, so the fact that Sony's looking at it is great news to fans of that sitcom!
After seeing this pamphlet (and we owe our thanks to reader "Eddie" for sending us the scan below), we checked in with Sony and asked if they had any additional info we could share with our readers. The studio tells us that there isn't right now, excepting of course for the already-announced
Party of Five set. The other three aren't currently on the schedule, and of course we have to understand that the mention of the titles on this insert is never a guarantee that they'll for-certain make it onto the market. Plans can always change, as
Designing Women fans found out when
Sony's public plans for season sets in 2006 never saw the light of day.
Still, it's a good heads-up that something may be coming for
Just Shoot Me at long last (similar to the long delay in a second
Barney Miller release), and we've already gotten verbal reassurance just recently from Sony that those magical releases of
Jeannie and
Bewitched are coming. None of it shows up any sooner than May, though, since we've seen Sony's March and April schedules, and everything TV-DVD related on both of them are already public (as in "nothing for April"). Stay tuned and we'll keep you updated, okay?
