Today TVShowsOnDVD is exactly 4 weeks away from our 6th anniversary since the site launched to the public. During that time we've done a few blogs, beginning with Gord's original in 2003 (it lasted around two months), and then launching a second "site blog" two years after that, in late 2005, at the popular Blogspot.com site. Gord and I have shared duties on that one for a couple of years now, but after TV Guide bought the site last February the plan was always to move both of us onto separate blogs at their own site.
Gord went first, naturally (he did create this site, after all), establishing his Commentary Track blog in late March, and using it to discuss his Pick of the Week and to comment on TV-DVD industry announcements, events and odd other stuff (like his Harmony 880 Remote; I have one, too!). While he has been posting over there at his TVGuide.com blog, I had been trying to keep things up at the site blog at Blogspot.com for the past few months.
But we knew that it was going to change at some point, and this is the week we've gone and done it. Yesterday we set up my new DVD Guy blog at TVGuide.com, and I've kicked it off with an essay - which has been well-read (and received) so far, thank you! - explaining the rights issues keeping The Six Million Dollar Man and the original Bionic Woman shows off of DVDs in North America. If you haven't read it yet, please check it out!
Going forward I expect to update that around once a week (more often if I have more to say), and that will probably be in the first half of the week most of the time. Topics will range far and wide. We called it "DVD Guy" because I'm mostly going to talk about TV-DVDs. Except when I don't. Expect me to be a long talker, as always...we know you would be disappointed if I didn't!
In the meantime, I've posted a "goodbye" announcement at the old blog site, and we're going to make that the end of it there. But please keep in mind that it's not really goodbye at all; we're really just moving up the street to a new neighborhood, and we certainly hope you come by to take a visit! Making it easier for you to do that, we've updated the links on the left-side menu at TVShowsOnDVD, so now you'll see a link to "Gord's Blog: Commentary Track" and a separate link to "Dave's Blog: DVD Guy". Please use them as much as you like and see what's on our minds!
While you're over there, be sure to say "hello" back to us, and leave comments on our posts. We appreciate positive comments, of course, but negative feedback is welcome as well, as long as you abide by the rules and don't say anything abusive or illegal, etc. To do that you'll need to create an account in the TVGuide.com community, but it's easy and free.
