Site News - 'Greatest Franchise' Poll: The Final Round: Is YOUR Favorite TV Show Going to Win? Star Trek? Stargate? Buffy? Indy? Star Wars? Ghostbusters? Or will a comic book franchise take it?

A couple of weeks ago we posted a story telling you about "The Greatest Franchise on DVD Ever!" poll being held by the folks at trade magazine Agent DVD. This fun poll is trying to get feedback about the best franchises/universes that have had any DVD releases. When we posted about it last time, the poll was in the semi-final round. As of yesterday they've gone to the final round of polling, so if you voted before in the semi-finals then be aware that you can now vote again for the ultimate winner. Instead of multiple categories like last time, there is one overall list of titles to vote for: Star Wars Star Trek Lord of the Rings Buffy the Vampire Slayer Stargate Batman Superman X-Men Spider-Man Indiana Jones James Bond Jaws Nightmare on Elm Street The Hannibal Lecter Movies Ghostbusters View Askewniverse (Films of Kevin Smith) Many of these are TV-related, though some not obviously so. For example, Star Trek, Buffy and Stargate are all best remembered for their TV shows, but don't forget the television interpretations of Star Wars, Indy Jones, Batman, Superman, Spiderman, The X-Men, Ghostbusters and even Nightmare on Elm Street ("Freddy's Nightmares," anyone?). Of course, not all of those shows are very well represented on DVD, so take that into account as you vote. The first question asks you to choose among several reasons as to "What is the most important element in determining the greatest franchise?," and the third question asks you to type in a short sentence saying why you picked the one you did...so be prepared to "justify" your choice in a fashion! The final question asks "Where did you learn about this poll?"...we're third on the list of choices, so do us a favor and give us a mark (note that we don't get anything for you doing that, but we would get a kick out of getting a good showing there!).
