Site News - No More Amazon.com Sales as News

This is the last news item

A few weeks ago we posted news on seven different Amazon.com TV-DVD sales, and mentioned this would be the last time we posted an Amazon sale as news. That triggered a bunch of emails begging us to continue to report on the sales, but we've also received emails from users that don't want to read about the sales, and don't consider them newsworthy.

Though the compliments far outweighed the complaints, we agreed that treating each Amazon sale as a news item wasn't the best way to handle it, so we got started on a special section of the site to track all the Amazon sales. Now people that want to see them will have an easier time tracking down a sale, and those that don't care won't find sales advertisements mixed with release announcements and cover art.

The new page, found at www.tvshowsondvd.com/sales.cfm, offers bargain hunters various options to filter their searches. You can set up the searches as desired, then subscribe to an RSS feed that returns the same results regularly. Prices are updated hourly, and titles that are no longer 35% off or greater are dropped from the list. Do you only want sci-fi sets that are 50% off or better? Not a problem. How about sets that are 60% off, with a savings of more than $50? Piece of cake. You can find the sales page linked at the top of our navigation bar ("TV-DVDs on Sale").

Also, if you're interesting in seeing JUST the latest, look for items flashing the word "new" to the left side of the DVD title. Those are titles Amazon put on sale within the last 24 hours. If you want to primarily see the new sale items, then be sure to filter the Sort Order as "New Additions -> Old".

We think this new page will offer bargain hunters tons of options to find deals, while keeping the news section for real TV-DVD news. Be sure to read the fine print at the very bottom of our Sales page for more understanding of of how this works and "why only Amazon?". Have any feedback? Just use the contact form on the site to send it our way.
