Longtime TVShowsOnDVD readers know that
the Home Theater Forum website and their TV-DVD message board area has always been the official discussion place for TSoD (and also, it's worth noting that it is the site where Gord Lacey and I first "met," prior to Gord founding this website). Each year HTF site-runners Ronald Epstein and Parker Clack work with Warner Home Video (the consumer release arm of Warner Brothers Studios) to hold an online chat for their members. In fact, they lately have held two online chats each year: one to focus on film releases on DVD (and now Blu-ray), and a separate chat for Television and Animation releases. The 2008 edition of the HTF/WHV TV-and-Animation chat is to be held this Monday,
September 15th.
The chat will begin Monday evening at 8PM Eastern (5PM Pacific), and will last 3 hours, ending precisely at 11PM Eastern (8PM Pacific). Participants scheduled to appear from Warner Home Video to answer questions and discuss upcoming releases are Rosemary Markson (Vice President TV and Special Interest Marketing), Amit Desai (Vice President, Family & Animation Marketing), Mary Ellen Thomas (Executive Director, Family & Animation Marketing), Allison Cepp (Director, TV on DVD Marketing), Hersin Magante (Director, Family & Animation Marketing) and Sylvia Son (Director, Family & Animation Marketing). You'll be able to see their responses to questions LIVE, and possibly get the opportunity to ask one of your own.
Gord and myself will do our very best to be there (we rarely miss these!), and we encourage everyone who is interested to come on by and join in. To find out how to do that, please read the
announcement and
chat rules posted over at the Home Theater Forum itself. Also note that the HTF leadership discourages any public online discussion in advance of the chat, regarding what questions will be asked during the session (the goal, of course, is to make these questions as fresh and spontaneous as possible, so we get off-the-cuff answers instead of anything prepared in advance).
Transcripts of the chat will be made available on the Home Theater Forum within a few days following. Here at TVShowsOnDVD, we'll post news which comes out of the chat as soon as we can. For those interested in TV-DVD news which was produced from previous chats, you can see some examples in our postings from the
2004,
2005,
2006 and
2007 HTF/WHV chats. Our thanks to Ron and Packy at the HTF for putting this together, and to Warner for coming and talking to everyone about their upcoming plans. We'll see all of them (and hopefully many of YOU) there, on Monday night!
