It's been 3-and-a-half years since we first hinted that
Sister, Sister could be headed to DVD, with our
report on New Years Day 2005 about shows we expected to head to home video sometime during that year. This wasn't the only show on that list which didn't make those expectations, of course, but fans were quite irate that they didn't get it. Almost two years later we finally had an update of sorts, with
rumors from industry sources that a DVD release called "The Premiere Episodes" was planned. Fans didn't quite like the sound of that, though, as it sounded like some sort of "best of" release, and they had been looking foward to full season sets for Tia and Tamera.
At last their wish has been granted! This morning Paramount Home Entertainment has formally announced
Sister, Sister - The 1st Season, coming to DVD on
October 28th. That season was very short, though, with its April debut as a mid-season replacement (so possibly a title of "The Premiere Episodes" could have still be applicable!). There are 12 half-hour episodes, running 277 minutes and presented in full screen video with English Stereo 2.0 audio.
Stars Tia (
The Game) and Tamera Mowry, Tim Reid (
WKRP, That '70s Show) and Jackée Harry (
227, Everybody Hates Chris) are joined by a few other faces you might recognize: Brittany Murphy, Molly Shannon, Kamau Holloway and Reginald Ballard. We don't have cover art yet, but the studio did provide this description of the release:
SISTER, SISTER is a half-hour comedy series which chronicles the adventures of a reunited set of identical twins, Tia Landry and Tamera Campbell (played by real-life identical twins Tia and Tamera Mowry). The teens live with their adoptive parents, conservative businessman Ray Campbell (Tim Reid) and brassy, outspoken Lisa Landry (Jackee Harry) in the suburbs of Detroit. Together, this unconventional blended family is learning lessons in life, laughter and love.
