Good morning! Some of you noticed that my byline hadn't appeared on posts here in the past week; I've been on vacation with my family, and Gord was covering the news for me (thanks, Gordo!). My last story before heading out was
about the release date of
The Simpsons - The Complete 11th Season on DVD, coming
October 7th, so it seems appropriate that my first post upon returning should be about the same release.
Going though e-mail, I see many readers trying to be helpful, pointing us toward Season 11 package art at other sites. Except for one thing: it's all the same art, and it's from Australia. As we explained to everyone who wrote in, we wait for the studio to provide art from USA sources, because we never know if the box art will be different between different regions (as
Charmed fans found out, when packaging for seasons 1 and 2 were the same in Europe and North America, but then season 3 was different...and then other seasons later on, too).
So this morning we present the one and only package art that Fox has provided to North American retailers...so far, anyway. As you can see below, this is a "Krusty head" design, that looks like it's got a raised surface on the front. On the other had, around the sides it's a "squared off" box, designed to fit more comfortably on your shelf without sticking out like the "Simpsons heads" boxes have for Seasons 6-10. Will there be another box design? Certainly, since this box claims to be a "Limited Edition Collector's Box"...so there has to be an "unlimited" version at some point. Stay tuned and we'll bring you that when it's available. Maybe it will look like the Australian art, but then again maybe it won't. We'll see!
