We've gotten word about the bonus material that Shout! Factory will include on their long-awaited
February 10th DVD release of
Simon & Simon - Season 2. Our sources say that fans shouldn't look for cast or crew participation, though, as there unfortunately won't be any interviews or commentaries included. However, Shout! was able to work with Universal to include the
Magnum P.I. episode "Ki'I's Don't Lie" on this set.
Why? Because this third-season story from the Selleck series happens to be the lead-in to the 2nd Season premiere episode of
Simon & Simon, "Emeralds are Not a Girl's Best Friend". Morgan Fairchild (known for roles in
Flamingo Road, Falcon Crest and a recurring part in
Friends) guest starred in both episodes, which together form one big story revolving around her character. Gerald McRaney and Jameson Parker cross over into the
Magnum P.I. episode, and in turn Tom Selleck and John Hillerman cross over into the Season 2
Simon & Simon debut.
We should point out, however, that this is not going to be the first time that both of these episodes have appeared together on DVD! Universal included both of them on a bonus disc which was part of the
Magnum, P.I. - The Complete 1st Season DVD set, released back in 2004. We
reported about it to
Simon & Simon fans at the time, naturally! Still, even if you already have that item, it will be more convenient for it to also be included here, so we commend Shout! (and Universal) for making it happen.
