After Warner Home Video released
Thundercats on DVD in the 2005-06 timeframe, fans of space-soaring companion cartoon
Silverhawks began asking for similar treatment! Of course, many of them are the same fans as
Thundercats, and indeed here at TVShowsOnDVD
Silverhawks is pretty decently ranked among the top 5% of all shows available for voting.
Warner's gone from saying "no plans at this time on Silverhawks" during their
2006 online chat with the Home Theater Forum to saying "Silverhawks is strongly being considered" during
the 2007 edition of the same chat. Now we've learned that they may be ready to take it farther...perhaps all the way to store shelves!
Yes, our inside-the-industry sources have gotten wind that a
Silverhawks DVD release, while not finalized (and therefore still subject to change or cancellation), is currently being penciled in for release sometime in
Mid to Late 2008. So it looks like the Rankin/Bass-produced, Lorimar- distrubuted series will finally make it home at last!
We know you can't wait to see Commander Stargazer send out his
Silverhawks team from Hawk Haven, to fight Mon*Star and his evil mob. This certainly falls into the "rumor" category for now, though, so don't get your hopes up too high until we tell you it's official. Stay tuned, and we'll keep you informed.
