After the series finale aired on FX this past November, fans have been wondering when Sony would release The Shield - The Complete 7th Season on DVD. Now, even though the studio hasn't formally announced it yet, the cat is out of the bag thanks to VideoETA, a website produced by home video distributor Ingram Entertainment. There they have revealed that a 4-disc set, costing $59.95 SRP, will be available to own on June 9th.
We've talked to our own, separate industry sources, and they tell us - on condition of anonymity - that yeah, this is the date Sony had provided to them, but that the studio had not intended for it to become public yet (indicating that it could still move, so please bear that in mind). Note that VideoETA currently shows the studio as "Fox", but that's an error simply explained by the fact that Fox had previously been distributing The Shield on DVD, before the home video rights moved to Sony in 2008 (the show was a co-production between Fox and Sony).
Our thanks to reader "Matt" for the heads-up about the listing over there. No further info is available yet, nor is there any cover art. But we'll bring you up-to-speed on the rest of it, just as soon as Sony's official announce date is upon us. Stay tuned!
