Two months ago, BCI officially
announced the
July 18th release of
She-Ra: Princess of Power - The Best of. That release includes the pilot film
The Secret of the Sword on one DVD, and the five top episodes (as voted on by the fans) on a second disc. Now, on June 25th, BCI has announced through
He-Man.org that they will create a variant version of the package especially for sale at the "Wizard World Chicago" convention in early August, and then the remaining copies sold via the He-Man.org website. The discs will be the exact same content, but the cover art will be changed (front and back) to promote the
Secret of the Sword film more than the
She-Ra episodes. The art cards inside the package will also be different than the retail release, it seems. Here's the text of the official announcement, followed by the different artwork:
The Best of She-Ra: Princess of Power will be released in an extremely limited edition Secret of the Sword variant package this August!
This August 3rd thru the 6th at Wizard World Chicago, fans can purchase this very limited release of the Best of She-Ra: Princess of Power on DVD. This release was designed soley for hardcore fans who would prefer commemorate the release of Secret of the Sword on DVD with its own packaging, and the release also helps support He-Man.org!
This limited DVD comes with all new art, from the back of the packaging to the interior packaging scenes.
The DVDs will be the same as those in the Best of She-Ra, so you won't miss out on any DVD content.
The cover is an homage to the classic SOTS theatrical promo art, and the spine features the SOTS logo.
It will also come with its own two unique artcards, featuring the art of fan-favorite illustrators Nathan Baertsch and Emiliano Santalucia.
These art cards will not be available in any other release!
This release is strictly limited to 1000 copies worldwide on this Region 1 variant, and will not be available anywhere else. When it's gone, it's gone for good!
Given how the Best of He-Man and the Masters of the Universe has seen close to 80,000 copies shipped in North America alone, we don't expect this limited variant to last long.
The DVD will be made available on He-Man.org for sale to fans everywhere after Wizard World Chicago.
Don't worry, we expect to have some left over from the con.
