An advertisement in the new print issue of
Video Business trade magazine is telling retailers to expect a
January 31 release of 4 new
Sex and the City DVDs, each sold separately for $14.95 SRP. Each DVD is a themed "best-of" release with 3 full episodes from the original HBO cable-casts. The titles are:
- Sex and the City - Breakups
- Sex and the City - Romance
- Sex and the City - Mr. Big
- Sex and the City - Lust
We don't know yet which episdes will be included for each release. The ad shows the cover art below, but notes very strongly: "Packaging subject to change". We like the artsy black-and-white photography on these, with the pink text in contrast. It will certainly look a bit different on store shelves than other items. Since the show has already been released both in season sets and this past week in a "complete series" release, it makes sense that HBO would now go back and pick up more casual fans with lower-priced single-disc entries that could be more of an "impulse item" buy. If you've held off on all of the previous releases because you just weren't such a big fan of the show, then these might be for you!
