Late last August the fine folks at Warner Brothers teamed up with BBC
America to bring to DVD one of the finest staples of PBS pledge drives: the
very popular Britcom
Are You
Being Served?. The first 5 seasons (or series, as the British call
them) were served up to us on 6 great discs (with a bonus 7th disc just for
the box set).
Now the rest of the classic show comes to DVD, just a year and a week later!
On September 2 we will get six individual releases of
Are You Being
Served?, labeled as Volumes 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, and 13. These will be
available at a suggested retail price of $19.98 each.
Or, for the biggest fans of this comedy, you can select
The Complete
Collection Series 6-10 box set, which collects the separate releases
mentioned above and again adds a seventh bonus disc: Volume 14 - "Returns".
This gift set will street on the same date, and the SRP is listed as
$99.98.
As soon as we get content details on each disc, a supplement list, and/or
some cover art, we'll fill you right in. We'll also be on the lookout for
any news about the sequel show,
Grace & Favour (broadcast in many
places as "
Are You Being Served? Again!"). In the meantime, this
fall you can join Captain Peacock, Mrs. Slocombe, Mr. Humphries, and Miss
Brahms as they welcome Old Mr. Grace, Mr. Tebbs, Mr. Goldberg, Mr. Grossman
and Mr. Spooner to the ready-made-fashions department at Grace Brothers.
