About six weeks ago we
reported that Infinity Entertainment had returned
Sergeant Preston of the Yukon - The Complete Collection to their release schedule, planning on finally getting it out on June 17th. Since then we've gotten conflicting information about this release. Some sources tell us it's off the schedule, some say it's on. Some say it's on, but changed to a "Volume 1" or a "Season 1" release. I sent a note to Infinity pointing out that they had already released season sets for all three seasons of
Preston, and they acknowledged that and later came back and told me that it would be the Complete Series. However, their password-protected press site still says "Season 1", and various retailer listings call it "Volume 1". We're truly confused about this one, no doubt!
Meanwhile, the folks at Timeless Media Group are putting out their own new release!
May 6th see their 2-DVD Tin package
The Best of Sergeant Preston of the Yukon. For $12.98 SRP you'll get 10 episodes running 250 minutes. Here is a look at the studio description and the package art:
Set in the frozen tundra of Canada's Yukon Territory in the late 1800s, Sergeant Preston of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police rode alongside his trusted Husky sidekick, Yukon King. Preston could often be heard encouraging his sled dogs through the snow with cries of "On King. On, you Huskies!" Battling the elements and criminals alike, he single-handedly fought for peace and justice. Preston set out to protect settlers and gold miners who came to make their home in this frozen wilderness. Naturally, like all good Mounties, he always got his man.
