It will probably come as no surprise, but the various
Seinfeld releases that are coming up on Tuesday,
Nov. 22nd will have some bonus
DVDs discs available for them at different retailers. Those are Best Buy (naturally) and Circuit City. Here's the best pictures we can get of the bonus
DVDs discs from their online resources (if you're interested in seeing bigger shots of these, drop by the respective stores and pick up their weekly flyers):
As you can see on the left, Best Buy's bonus disc offer is for an item that's directly related to the show: 21 minutes of material from Jerry's stand-up routines; a compilation of his funniest bits from the first 6 seasons. That is available free to anyone who purchases either
Season 5,
Season 6, or either of the
Re-Gift Sets (the second set contains the 5th and 6th seasons, the first set contains the 1st through 3rd seasons. Remember, according to Best Buy's website, to get the bonus disc for free, you just have to purchase one of the above 4 items. It is also possible to purchase the bonus disc on its own for $9.99. This is also available online at BestBuy.com: if you look at
the listing for Re-Gift Set #2 (currently marked at $79.99 on sale), you'll see a link on the left to the "Exclusive Bonus Disc Offer" that explains how to process it.
On the right side of the above illustrations is the Circuit City offering, called "A Taste Of Great TV." It does not specifically seem to be
Seinfeld-related, it just seems to be a sampler of other TV-on-DVD releases from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. This is also available by purchase online, though it only seems to be offered by purchasing with buying one of Tuesday's new
Seinfeld releases, and not with any older release nor on its own. So is it worth getting compared to the Best Buy bonus disc? Not for die-hard fans of
Seinfeld; they'll want Jerry's routines. In most markets, though, Circuit City will have the better prices on the individual season sets (though Best Buy beats them on the Re-Gift Sets). So which bonus disc you end up with depends on how much the prices mean to you, and which configuration you want to buy.
As you can imagine, both stores warn that these are "while supplies last" and that there are "no rainchecks." Circuit City adds that this is limited to 3 copies per individual and that it expires (along with sale pricing) on 11/13rd; minimum of 10 bonus discs will be stocked at each store. Best Buy's bonus offer and pricing last through 11/26, and they will stock no fewer than 15 bonus discs per store.
Other chains have other deals: Target is giving away $5 gift cards with
Seinfeld purchases, FYE is offering their own mail-in rebates as well as a free pack of "close talker" mints. See each chain's offers for details. Yada yada yada.
CORRECTION (11/21):
As we discuss in some detail
in our 11/21 news post, the Best Buy bonus disc offer is for a CD, not a DVD. We implied it was a DVD in the top portion of our story, which has been corrected with strikeouts. TVShowsOnDVD regrets the error, which was based on a faulty listing at BestBuy.com. For all the details, please read today's story.
