Earlier this week we updated you on the bonus materials that Lionsgate will include on their USA release of Secret Diary of a Call Girl - Season 1 on DVD. This release starring Billie Piper (Doctor Who) and Cherie Lunghi (Excalibur) arrives on January 6th, and now the studio has sent us a brand-new, more in-depth description of the show. But even better, they've released the box art to retailers, and some of our friends in the industry have passed it along to us this morning. And we've got it for you...enjoy!
It's her business doing pleasure with you. "Secret Diary of a Call Girl," Showtime's new hit original series based on the real-life adventures of a high-class escort, debuts on DVD from Lionsgate. This witty and provocative show follows the dangerously sexy exploits of "Belle" (real name Hannah Baxter), a 27-year-old graduate living in London, who has worked for the last few years as one of the city's premiere escorts. She's an independent, witty young woman who loves her job. Juggling her own reality with her clients' fantasies can be difficult, but this savvy sweetheart knows every trick in the book to doing it in style. However, over time she finds her separate lives increasingly hard to maintain.
A tremendous success in Britain, "Secret Diary of a Call Girl" became Showtime's most-watched series debut when it premiered in June 2008 and instantly garnered critical praise. Entertainment Weekly called lead actress Billie Piper (TV's "Doctor Who") "extraordinary" and the San Francisco Chronicle raved "like 'Sex and the City' ... the human relationships depicted here are interesting and worth mining and Belle's life choices are entertaining." Secret Diary of a Call Girl: Season One features all eight episodes of the tantalizing first season. The DVD will strut its way onto store shelves on January 6, 2009, coinciding with the show's second season premiere on January 18, 2009. Pricing: DVD $29.98 SRP.
