Two of the earliest
Scooby-Doo DVDs are
Scooby-Doo's Original Mysteries and
Scooby-Doo's Spookiest Tales, both of which are still widely available either separately for $14.97 SRP each or occasionally found bundled together for a discounted price.
Now, in the spirit of the
"Television Favorites" DVDs which Warner has done for shows like
Duke of Hazzard, Maverick and
Chico and the Man, the two early
Scooby-Doo titles are being re-packaged into 4 releases of a new "Kids TV Favorites" line-up, each with only 2 episodes:
Scooby-Doo - Kid's TV Favorites: Scooby-Doo's Original Mysteries takes on the "What a Night for a Knight" and "Hassle in the Castle" episodes from the original full-length
Original Mysteries DVD, while
Scooby-Doo - Kid's TV Favorites: Mine Your Own Business contains "Mine Your Own Business" (naturally) and "Decoy for a Dognapper". The fifth episode from the full-length DVD, "A Clue for Scooby-Doo" has been orphaned and is not on these discs. No matter, though, as the full-length DVD is still available, plus it is also on the
Scooby-Doo, Where Are You! - Seasons 1 & 2 box set of course!
Similarly,
Scooby-Doo - Kid's TV Favorites: Scooby-Doo's Spookiest Tales contains "Vampire Bats And Scaredy Cats" (actually from the
Scooby-Doo/Dynomutt Show, which is also
heading to a DVD box set) and "A Gaggle Of Galloping Ghosts". Then, finally, there's
Scooby-Doo - Kid's TV Favorites: Which Witch is Which that contains (of course) "Which Witch is Which" and "That's Snow Ghost". The bonus episode from the full-length DVD, "Headless Horseman Of Halloween", didn't make it to the Kid's TV Favorites discs.
Each of these runs about 45 minutes, give or take, and according to the info at Warner Brothers they are officially available as of
October 3rd (that's ten days ago, a week prior to this past Monday). Yet these aren't listed yet at online retailers such as Amazon.com, and there isn't any pricing information in Warner's release listings. We imagine that they will go for under $10, and perhaps be at a really nice price to promote the "impulse item" nature of these items. That would make sense, since the back of the packages continues to advertise the full-fledged versions of these:
Stay tuned and we'll bring you pricing info and anything else we find out in the release listings for each of these DVDs.
