In the wake of last Thursday's news that SNL season sets have been derailed due to the too-high music costs of the performance segments, and that the DVD focus is now on best-of releases, we wanted to follow up quickly and make you aware of a newly-announced pair of best-of titles for this show. In recent months Lionsgate has put out "Expanded" releases of previously-available titles featuring Adam Sandler, Eddie Murphy, Tracy Morgan and Will Ferrell.
Today Lionsgate has announced 2 more: " Saturday Night Live - Best Of John Belushi (Expanded)" and " Saturday Night Live - Best Of Chris Farley (Expanded)" (note that these re-released might be retitled as "Tribute to" rather than "Best of"). Both will be available on February 1st, at a cost of $14.98 SRP each. The studio has informed retailers that these will be single-disc titles running 105 minutes for Belushi and 115 for Farley, presented in full screen video and with English Dolby 2.0 Stereo sound. Both are listed as being closed captioned.
