While Lionsgate is busy
revising and expanding several years-old
Saturday Night Live best-of DVDs, Universal is trying to bring us some NEW best-of material from the most recent completed season of the show. Today Universal Studios Home Entertainment announced a
September 21st DVD release of "
Saturday Night Live - Best Of '09/'10," a single-disc release priced at $19.98 SRP (we're honestly surprised, though, that it's not coming out two weeks earlier, to coincide with Universal's DVD/Blu-ray releases of the
MacGruber film!).
While we know this title will include material with the likes of Will Forte, Kenan Thompson, Fred Armisen, Bill Hader and Andy Samberg, no specifics have been provided so far about the contents (we imagine, however, that it will prove to be similar to their
Best Of '06/'07 release). Running time is 103 minutes, video is anamorphic widescreen, audio is English Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround and subtitles are in English. Stay tuned for package art, and anything further we find out. We're also keeping our eyes peeled for any word from Universal about a holiday-timed release of a classic-era season set, as they've done in the past, so we'll let you know if we find out anything regarding that, too!
