For several years now studios have been releasing compilation discs of 2, 3 or even 4 films squeezed onto one disc as a budget-conscious way of getting old DVD titles out to new customers at low, low prices. For the most part this as been relegated to films, with double- and triple-features being seen, but not television fare since TV shows are multi-disc DVD titles to begin with. However, Lionsgate is preparing one such release in the near future, and it's not the "shrinkwrap existing boxes into a new bundle" sort of process we usually see on the TV side of things, but rather a new box. In the past SNL has been released both as multi-disc season sets (although Universal seems to be taking a year off from that sort of release for 2010, probably due to the down economy) and as single disc "best-of" releases that often concentrate on a single former or current cast member.
On November 23 Lionsgate will release a DVD in their "4-Film Collection" lineup which won't be four films, but instead be 4 previously-released "best-of" SNL titles featuring Eddie Murphy, Adam Sandler, Chris Rock and Tracy Morgan. All four will be on in one package, for just $9.98. Some sources show the box as containing 4 discs, some say just one (which ought to be possible, considering the short running times of the previously-released DVDs). Either way, this could make a good stocking stuffer for the more casual SNL fan! Immediately below is the package art for Saturday Night Live - 4 Film Collection: Best of Eddie Murphy, Adam Sandler, Chris Rock, Tracy Morgan; underneath that is the studio description of the title as provided to retailers:

BEST OF EDDIE MURPHY: In the early 80s, "Saturday Night Live" was coming back alive and the reason was Eddie Murphy. It's all here- Gumby, Buckwheat, Little Richard Simmons, and a dip in James Brown's Hot Tub. Pay a visit to Mr. Robinson's Neighborhood and see the best of Velvet Jones, Stevie Wonder, Solomon and Pudge, and more. Plus there's extra material, including outrageous outtakes and bloopers.
BEST OF CHRIS ROCK: Chris Rock is one of the greatest comic minds of his generation, and it all started on "Saturday Night Live." Watch the best of the Dark Side with Nat X, I'm Chillin, and Def Jam- and maybe even learn how to Survive the Apollo. The Best of Chris Rock also features bonus material, including hilarious outtakes and scenes that were cut after Dress Rehearsal and never seen until now.
BEST OF TRACY MORGAN: Born and raised in New York City, Tracy Morgan epitomized the bold and defiant attitude essential to being an SNL star. Bringing a sense of fearlessness to the stage, Tracy was sure to make hilarious moments come alive each and every week...just as long as you brought him a soda. Now you can watch the best of Brian Fellow, Astronaut Jones, Dominican Lou, Woodrow, and many others. "The Best of Tracy Morgan" features 25 minutes of all new special features, including Tracy's monologue, Weekend Update features, and additional sketches.
BEST OF ADAM SANDLER: In the '90s it was time to redefine what it meant to be a "Saturday Night Live" star, and Adam Sandler did just that. You'll see Opera Man, Cajun Man, Canteen Boy, the Gap Girl, and many other completely original inventions that were always different and always funny.
Also includes guests Alec Baldwin, Courteney Cox, Shannen Doherty, Kirstie Alley, Michael Keaton and SNL regulars Chris Farley, David Spade and Rob Schneider.
