Her loveable enthusiasm and zest for life combined with her natural curiosity gives Sarah Jane more than one heart-stopping moment. A fast and funny mix of action, drama and special effects, The Sarah Jane Adventures grip young audiences across the world.
BBC Video has today announced that the final chapter of
The Sarah Jane Adventures is coming to DVD this summer. As you know, the show was led by Elisabeth Sladen as "Sarah Jane Smith," who co-starred on
Doctor Who from 1973 to 1976, as a companion to the 3rd and 4th Doctors. This spin-off program, after the character's encounter with the 10th Doctor in 2006, was going strong into its fifth season (series) when the star was suddenly diagnosed with cancer a year ago this month (February 2011). She took ill soon after, and passed away at age 65 on April 19, 2011. The usual 6 two-part stories (12 total episodes) had been planned by the BBC for the fifth series of the show, but only half of that had been completed when this tragedy struck.

Those three completed 2-part stories ("Sky," "The Curse of Clyde Langer," and "The Man Who Never Was") were aired around the globe in tribute to the beloved Miss Sladen, and now fans will be able to get them on DVD in North America as "
The Sarah Jane Adventures - The Complete 5th Season." This single-disc release, priced at $19.98 SRP for 156 minutes, is coming to DVD in the USA and Canada on
June 12th. Extras haven't been finalized yet, but stay tuned and we'll bring that to you as soon as possible (and yes, we're also hoping - like all of you are! - that it includes material such as the CBBC's Tribute to Elisabeth Sladen, and more). Full-sized package art isn't available yet, but on the right you can see a thumbnail look at the box.
UPDATE (3/1): Amazon.com is
