It's time to wrap up the complete run on DVD of another series, and this time the honor goes to classic sitcom
Sanford and Son. The first five seasons of the show have been released irregularly since August 2002, and on
June 7, 2005 Sony will cap it off with
Sanford and Son - The Sixth Season.
Guest stars during the final year included Eric Lanuville of
St. Elsewhere, Chuck Barris as himself (Fred goes on
The Gong Show), B.B. King as himself, and...Redd Foxx as himself! Yes, "Fred Meets Redd" as Redd Foxx is in town holding a look-alike contest, and Fred is sure he's gonna win it. Too bad it distracts Fred from doing his taxes! Redd's daughter Debraca Foxx also guest stars in that episode, playing a character named "Doris."
The 3-DVD set will go for $29.95 SRP, and the initial Limited Edition run will come with a Collectible Scrapbook as a bonus that will be shrink-wrapped to the box set either "side-by-side" or "stacked" (think about how you go into some retailers and see older discount film DVDs paired up in a 2-for-$15 bundle, and in some stores they are back-to-back and in others they are wrapped up next to each other so you can see both covers at once).
You will also be able to find the 3-disc set without the bundle for the same SRP, so be careful and try to get the scrapbook. Running time is 616 minutes, and we have a look at the main cover, discs, and the Disc 1 menu screen below (menus for the other two discs are nearly identical):
