As long as
we can remember, whenever Rosie O'Donnell blogged that DVDs of her talk show were coming, she always referred to them simply as "Season 1"...and fan interpretations were exactly like ours: that this meant we should expect an entire season's worth of shows. Perhaps edited down in some manner or another (a season of a daily talk show is a LOT of episodes!), but still a multi-disc set was what we had all come to expect. That seemed to be confirmed this past weekend when,
as we reported, Rosie.com announced the upcoming Home Shopping Network (HSN) release by saying, "
The Rosie O'Donnell Show Season One DVD is finally here!"
Ever since we posted the
official press release this past Tuesday, fans have therefore been expressing natural disappointment that this turns out to be a 1-disc, 90-minute "best of" clip show that is fully titled
The Rosie O'Donnell Show - Season 1: Rosie Reminisces. The DVD features O'Donnell watching highlights of the first season of the show, and providing exclusive commentary as she reminisces about those moments...which include scenes with George Clooney, Cher, Tom Cruise, Penny Marshall and more.
The press release promised that the DVD, at a cost of $19.95, would also be accompanied by "
an exclusive scrapbook complete with original photos and captions, written by Rosie herself." And we've got a picture of that, thanks to HSN's site. Even though Rosie's live appearances on HSN don't happen until this Sunday, the release is now
up for sale, and it includes the below picture of the DVD and scrapbook. There's a different picture of the scrapbook, open to a page, over at the HSN listing, so head over there and check it out.
Finally, for those of you wondering whether Warner Home Video is behind the production of this release, and whether it would be in stores, there was a live online chat between Warner and the Home Theater Forum this past Monday. As we
reported in our round-up of news that came out of that chat, Warner stated that "
WHV is not part of that release." Just FYI, for those interested.
