A couple of months ago we had
the heads-up about the Fall 2007 DVD release of
Roots: The Next Generations and
Roots: The Complete Collection. We now have details about these packages, both of which will be formally announced soon. The release date is
October 30th, and if you just want the
Roots: The Next Generations 4-DVD set then it will run you $59.98 SRP. It includes the never-before-released featurette "
The Legacy Continues." Here's a look at the box art:

On the other hand, Roots - The Complete Collection will be an all-over deal with both the 9-hour Roots mini-series (in the recent "30th Anniversary Edition" release) and the 12-hour Roots: The Next Generations mini-series together, and all their bonus material on each four-disc set. Plus a ninth disc with the new-to-DVD release of Roots: The Gift, a two-hour holiday movie from 1988 that is set as a side-story inside the original mini-series. Fans have been wanting this, and Warner is including it! Finally, the 10th DVD will be a bonus disc full of all-new exclusive extras, including featurettes not available anywhere else. Plus a 44-page collectible companion booklet is inside the very nice package. All this for $119.82 SRP:
