A month ago we
reported that HBO Video is preparing an upcoming release - probably in
September - of
Rome - The Complete Series Gift Set on high-definition Blu-ray Disc. Amazon.com has provided a pre-order listing (see button link below), that doesn't show a specific release date because HBO and distributor Warner Home Video haven't formally announced the title just yet.
In our original story, we showed off a look at possible packaging for the release, except that it was marked with a DVD logo on the spine, rather than a Blu-ray logo. Now Amazon has updated their pre-order listing, showing the same package art with a Blu-ray logo, and a Blu "belly band" that reveals a few things: this is a 10-disc set featuring "true hi-def" 1080p video resolution, a DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 soundtrack, and new-for-Blu bonus material in the way of Interactive Historical Guides. All of which is delivered inside of a beautiful book-like package, which slides into a nice outer slip-cover. We've got the beauty shot for you first, showing the inside contents, followed by a close-up of the external packaging:
