A few weeks ago we
passed along word from show creator Joe Murray that Shout! Factory is working on a DVD release of
Rocko's Modern Life - Season 4, and that fans should expect this final season of the Nickelodeon-aired show sometime in the new year. At the time, Murray also said, "
there may be a surprise in the future"...and now we know what that surprise is! In his latest blog entry, Murray related that even before Shout! distributed that final season on its own, they will first be making available a package Joe refers to as "
Rocko's Modern Life: All Complete Seasons Set" (i.e., the complete series...which is probably what Shout! will officially title it in the end). Here's an exact quote from
Murray's blog:
Shout Factory, encouraged by the strong sales of the previous season RML DVD's has decided to do an "All Complete Seasons Set" of Rocko's Modern Life, set to be released on February 26th, 2013, complete with the bonus video of this years Rocko Live event. With large retailers on board, this set will also include this full color art piece ( Pencil rough shown here) included in the packaging...For those of you who already bought the first three seasons and just want the fourth, have no fear. I've already done the art for that one, and it will be out after the complete season DVD release.
As you can see in the quote, an image is mentioned; you can see that at Murray's blog found using the link above. The street date of
February 26th is also announced for
Rocko's Modern Life - The Complete Series on DVD. Note that this info is coming strictly from the show's creator; so far no official announcement has been provided by Shout! Factory themselves. Therefore, any information we've passed on is not necessarily final, and could be subject to change. Stay tuned for the studio's word on the subject, and package art as well, just as soon as they're available! Our thanks to the many readers of ours who wrote in about this item, beginning with "Ty."
NOTE: A lot of you were upset that the individual season sets didn't always contain uncut episodes, and now people are asking Joe Murray at his blog if this will be fixed for
The Complete Series.
Murray's answer is, unfortunately, "no"...here's a quote:
"Shout factory can only distribute what Nick gives them unfortunately. It's been through the Nick splicer. But most are kept in tact."
Sorry to hear that, but we suppose it's better to have everything that's available, rather than nothing at all. Thanks for letting us all know, Joe.
