January 15th sees the release of
The Rockford Files - Season 5 from Universal, and they've sent out a screen shot of the main menu for these DVDs. You can see that below, but first we've got important word about the running time of one of the episodes on this set.
The 17th episode of the season was "The Man Who Saw the Alligators," written by none other than David Chase (known these days for
The Sopranos). The episode has been mostly seen in a shortened hour-long version for all these years, but the original network version was a special extended 90-minute broadcast. One of our readers, Randy Buccini, asked us to double-check with the studio and see if the DVDs would contain the original version of this story. We checked with Universal, and they looked into it. We've gotten their reply, and they assure us that the 90-minute version will indeed be included in this package!
