Yesterday we
posted news that
Rocket Robin Hood had returned to DVD release schedules in Canada, two years after the previously planned releases. A short time ago today we were in touch with the studio, and got some important information about the
November 17th release we told you about. One thing is clear from the latest information: these are VERY different sets from what was planned previously!
The original plans, when Seville Pictures was planning on a 2007 release through Warner Home Video of Canada, was for 2 separate collection of 7 DVDs, each costing CA$44.99 SRP and each containing half the show's run of 52 episodes (meaning 26 episodes per set). The first hint was had that something is different was mentioned in yesterday's post: the list price of the new releases are much less, at CA$29.99 SRP per set. Now THERE'S a hint that the sets will be smaller, too.
And they are. We're told that these will be 4-disc collections. Episode lists and even episode counts aren't available at this time. Nor is artwork available yet, either. The main piece of info that the distributor provided to us is the 4-disc count, and what the nature of the two listings at Amazon.ca are. That's actually the most important piece of info you need to know right now!
It turns out that we jumped to a very bad conclusion when we saw two different listings at Amazon.ca: since the original 2007 plans called for a Volume 1 and a Volume 2, we assumed that two new listings equaled two new volumes, with one of them just being a typo when it said "V1" (
Editor's Note: People familiar with Amazon.ca will know that their listings are often very sparse, and often contain errors). There IS an error at one of the Amazon.ca listings, but it wasn't the one we thought. Both listings said that they are for
Rocket Robin Hood - Volume 1...that's correct. Both listings said that they are presented in the English language... that's the part which is wrong.
One listing at Amazon.ca is for
the English-only 4-DVD set, and the other listing is for
a French-language version of the same 4 discs (just French, not bi-lingual). So if you have ordered both of these sets, it's important that you cancel one of them (for example, if you need English language then cancel the French version with the ASIN of "B002OHROOC"). TVShowsOnDVD regrets the confusion. Hopefully Amazon.ca will shortly correct their listing to show the proper language information.
Since we don't know how many episodes will be on the first 4 disc set, it's impossible for us to speculate on how many total sets there will be, or how long it will be before the next release comes out (it's still labeled "Volume 1," so it's probably safe to assume there will be a "Volume 2," and possibly others, at some point). Our contact is working to get details on all of that info for us, plus the package art, just as soon as it can all be finalized and sent our way. Stay tuned!
