One of Ralph Bakshi's earlier credits is the 1966 animated series
Rocket Robin Hood, a Canadian show set in the future (year 3000) on the New Sherwood Forest Asteroid. The title character, Rocket Robin Hood, lead his Merry Men against villians that included Prince John and his Sheriff of N.O.T.T. (National Outer-space Terrestrial Territories).
Warner Home Video of Canada is getting set to release all 52 episodes on two separately-sold DVDs, coming out next month.
Rocket Robin Hood - Volume 1 (with episodes 1-26) and
Rocket Robin Hood - Volume 2 (with episodes 27-52) both arrive on
October 23rd. Besides the episodes, sporting new digital transfers, each release will have extras in the form of a "Childhood Memories" featurette.
Both will be 7-disc sets (yep, that's what the studio info says!) in "digipak" cases, running 572 minutes each, with full-frame video and audio tracks in both English Stereo 2.0 and French Stereo 2.0. Cost on each set will be CA$44.99 SRP, but you can pre-order
Volume 1 and
Volume 2 from Amazon.ca for just $31.49 each. Cover art isn't finalized yet, but we'll bring that to you when it's available. Our thanks to reader "Michael K." for the heads-up on this info!
