A few months ago we had the pleasure of reporting
Warner Canada's announcement that the entire series of
Rocket Robin Hood, an early (1966) Ralph Bakshi production, was coming to DVD in October. The plan was to split the entire run of the Canadian cartoon in half, and release each half on "Volume 1" and "Volume 2" releases on the same day at Canadian retailers. Then, about a week before the original release date, we
passed along Warner Canada's notice that these titles had been delayed until late November.
Overnight one of our friends among Canadian retailers sent us the document pictured below, a notice from Warner Canada dated from a week ago (11/8) announcing that both
Rocket Robin Hood DVD titles have now been canceled. The e-mail we received stressed that the word used is "canceled", as opposed to something which may indicate a long but temporary postponement. As you can see, no reason is provided. We were able to independently confirm the cancellation using our own resources, but were unable to get a reason for the change, either. Sorry to be the bearer of such bad news; hopefully this is not the last we'll hear of it!
