Robot Chicken: Star Wars 2 brazenly combines the satirical sensibilities of Seth Green and Matthew Senreich's (Stoopid Monkey Productions) Robot Chicken with the unforgettable moments and favorite characters of the Star Wars universe among them, its creator himself, George Lucas. Transformed into the stop-motion animated characters that are the hallmark of Adult Swim's Robot Chicken, and in conjunction with Shadow Machine Films (Alex Bulkley/Corey Campodonico), the Star Wars galaxy takes on an entirely different attitude.
This past November, [adult swim] aired the "Star Wars: Episode II" special for
Robot Chicken, and now this hilarious half-hour is heading home on DVD. Warner Home Video announced today that
July 21st will see the release of
Robot Chicken - Star Wars: Episode II, on a disc that includes not just the special but also some Bonus Material: Video Commentary, Deleted Scenes, an Animation Meeting, and a look Behind the Scenes. Video will be full frame, audio in English Stereo 2.0, and English subtitles are on board as well. The cost is $19.97 SRP. Here's a look at the box art:
UPDATE: Warner has sent out an e-announcement, which we show at the bottom. It explains that the original 22-minute version of the episode is included, along with a "
38 minute special extended edition with 15 minutes of never before seen animation." A link to
an online clip from the special was also provided, so check it out!
