Last April we
passed on a report from the "North Fork Weekly" newsletter (posted at fan site RiflemanConnors.com) that a 50th Anniversary "complete series" memorial set was in the works, with all 168 episodes of
The Rifleman starring Chuck Connors. Now that we're past the 50-year mark (which was 2008), fans have wondered whatever happened to these plans. A more recent post at the RiflemanConnors fan site brings the matter up:
Where are "our" Rifleman DVD's?
No word on "The Rifleman" DVD's as of yet.
I have talked to Arnold [Laven, show producer] and he said he would check into this and get back with me. He said the last time he talked to Steve Gardner, attorney for LGL Productions and the son of Arthur Gardner, he was investigating LGL having a larger participation in the makeup of the package...mostly around the "add on" material. He doesn't know how that went or if they have finished it yet.
That was apparently posted there a while ago. Now a more recent post of the "North Folk Weekly" newsletter there at the site, dated February 2nd, has this follow-up to the above, signed by Arnold Laven and addressed to Margie there at the site:
Margie...Sorry that I haven't answered your question earlier...Steve is still working out details and particulars and now estimates the DVDs should be available sometime this summer...a little indefinite...but it is the best he can to as of now.
So that's the latest info! Our thanks to reader "Mike O." for tipping us off to the update there. Stay tuned,
Rifleman fans, and we'll let you know if anything further comes to our attention, okay?
