Over the past few years MPI Home Video has released episodes of
The Rifleman, starring Chuck Connors, on DVD releases configured as both single-disc, 5-episode items and also as 4-DVD sets with about 20 episodes to a package. Never before has every episode of this program been available (in legit releases) to consumers...but one fan site indicates that a complete series set could be on the way!
We're not actually certain it's a "just in" report, either. The info comes from
the "North Fork Weekly" newsletter posted at fan site RiflemanConnors.com. It shows a date of "April 4, 2008" at the newsletter's header, but it says "posted 1/29/08" right after the info. So the info could be a bit over two months old. What is the info saying? Here's a quote that speaks for itself:
News on "The Rifleman" DVD's - Hey, everybody! I have some great news! At Cowgirl's suggestion, I wrote to the producers of The Rifleman about DVD sets and I received an answer today. They said "It is our intention to make the 50th anniversary a special event and we are in the process of duplicating the entire 168 episodes in a memorial set."
Isn't that super? The letter did say we have to wait a few months, but at least we know it's coming! So for those of you who don't have the Western channel or any of the previous sets, just hang on for a bit longer! Thanks Linda C. for sharing this information with us! posted 1/29/08
Yes, thanks to Linda C. for sharing this info with that site, and to our own reader Bill Trunger for tipping us off to the posting over there. It sounds like the set would be out later this year, doesn't it? Stay tuned and we'll update you if we get any further developments about this!
