That's right,
Ren and Stimpy fans! You heard it here first: the crazed chihuahua and the dopey-but-lovable cat are back this year, not once but twice!, in a pair of box sets that are set to finish off the run of the original show. Industry sources have given us this information:
- June 28 is the pencilled-in date for Ren & Stimpy - Seasons 3 & 4
- Ren & Stimpy - The Remaining Season should arrive in the Fall, probably in October or November, if all goes well
We discussed this with Paramount Home Entertainment, who would confirm that more
Ren & Stimpy is on the way, but would not confirm the dates, citing that plans aren't set in stone. For instance, the first release seems to have originally been looked at to street in May, but those plans changed. In fact, the title may even change a little bit: don't be surprised if it comes out as
Seasons 3 & 4 1/2 (we're not certain what might constitute a half-season; that just might be part of John K.'s sense of humor, or it could be to mark the fact that the 4th season had a few more episodes than Seasons 3 and 5 did).
This is very early info, but what's sure is that we're going to see two more box sets of
Ren and Stimpy Show cartoons, and they'll both almost certainly be available this year. Stay tuned and we'll bring you more details, once Paramount firms up their plans.
