Last December we
passed along the word from one online source - which one of our industry contacts verified at the time - that (then, anyway) the long-awaited release of
Ren & Stimpy - The Lost Episodes (which include
Adult Party Cartoon) would be out in the Spring...either March or April.
With March halfway over and the April slate from the studio already known, it's obvious that it won't make it. We still don't have solid word from the studio (or any retailers) as to when we'll see it. And at this time we won't even speculate. But we have to be getting close, because John K. has
posted at his blog (scroll to the bottom of his post, just above the feedback comments) a look at the wrap-around cover for the box:
And if you look on the rear cover, you'll see it contains all 9 episodes from
Adult Party Cartoon. But if you REALLY zoom in on the rear cover, you'll spot the extras if you cock your head sideways a bit. Here, let us help:
Add that to things mentioned on the front cover, and here's the complete list of extras:
- Intros by Weird Al and John K.
- Interviews with the Artists
- Clips From Unfinished Cartoons
- More Goodies!
- Meet David Feiss - Creator of Cow & Chicken
In case you don't know what that last item means, let's explain it a bit:
Cow & Chicken is a "modern classic" animated series (Cartoon Network, 1997). Many
R&S fans also enjoy it.
C&C creator David Feiss was also animation director on
R&S Show and animated on the pilot of
R&S Show. Seth MacFarlane (
Family Guy/American Dad/Robot Chicken) wrote for
C&C. Voice actors included Dan Castellaneta ("Homer Simpson"), Mark Hamill ("Luke Skywalker,"
Batman:TAS's "The Joker"), Michael Dorn (
Gargoyles, Star Trek's "Worf"), and Will Ferrell (
Saturday Night Live, Elf, Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy).
In the meantime,
Ren & Stimpy - The Lost Episodes looks like it's shaping up to be a good release, well worth the wait. Stay tuned and we'll have the release date for you as soon as we can. Our thanks to "Zack" for telling us about the 3/15 update to John K.'s blog. Here's a close-up of the front and rear covers in their entirety:
