Fox Home Video's main man for DVD development, Sr. VP Peter Staddon, was generous enough to spend more than 2 hours last night at an online chat, sponsored and hosted by the wonderful staff over at
The Home Theater Forum. He was asked a LOT of TV-on-DVD questions, and tonight I hope to bring you the complete wrap-up.
One of TVShowsOnDVD's very own readers, Jessica, started off the chat by asking Mr. Staddon about Pierce Brosnan's "Bond-inspiring" role in
Remington Steele. This is a show that Fox owns by way of their aquisition quite some time back of the MTM properties, which include
The Mary Tyler Moore Show and
Newhart, among others.
Staddon replied that "One of the guys in the office has been pestering us for six months straight to release (
Remington)," indicating that the show had support from "inside" (even if we don't know the person's position).
Jessica and I were both pleased by the rest of the answer, which was that
Remington Steele WILL be released, and that the timeframe is "probably later this year."
As the
007 franchise seems to be nearing the end of the Pierce Brosnan era, it will be great to finally get onto DVD the show out which first inspired, then delayed Brosnan's stint as the ultimate secret agent. Stay tuned, and we will let you know the details, as soon as Fox wraps up their planning for this long-awaited set.
