Reaper - Rumors Say Lionsgate to Release Season 2 DVDs VERY Quickly After Finale Broadcast

Grapevine sources tell us that the home videos will release a week after the season ends!

Posted by David Lambert
Some very interesting rumors have reached our ears about Reaper - Season 2 on DVD. The first season ran for eighteen episodes, airing on The CW from Fall 2007 to Spring 2008, and came to home video in the Fall 2008 timeframe. The second season, as reported at, begins broadcast a week from tomorrow, on March 3rd. The CW has ordered 13 episodes, beginning with the season debut titled "Episode IV: A New Hope" (in which Sam, Sock and Ben return from a road trip to find out that they've been evicted from their swanky apartment, and fired from the Work Bench).

Our contacts in the industry tell us that the plan is for The CW to air all 13 episodes on thirteen consecutive Tuesdays, and after the 2nd season finale airs on Tuesday, May 26th, then Lionsgate will release Reaper - Season 2 on DVD exactly a week later, on June 2nd. Bret Harrison, Tyler Labine, Rick Gonzalez, Missy Peregrym, Valarie Rae Miller and Ray Wise are all back and joined by a number of guest stars, who I won't reveal here due to possible spoilers. However, I guess it's okay to mention that Kandyse McClure (Battlestar Galactica) returns as "Cassidy," a character previously seen in the first season, and who is already known to be appearing in the second season premiere.

I have to admit that the first season DVDs were among my favorite pleasures under the Christmas tree, and I can't tell you how much I'm anticipating the DVD release of the second season (especially since the broadcasts are airing opposite of American Idol, a mainstay in my family). I hope to see many more seasons of Reaper, and I'd love for Lionsgate to release it on Blu-ray as well (alas, no plans for that at the moment, I'm told). However, please, PLEASE consider the info given above to be just idle gossip at the moment, and remember that the plans provided to me could easily change. We'll keep an eye on this, and once Lionsgate finalizes and formally announces those plans, we'll be there with details and package art for you. Stay tuned!
