Ever since our
report early this month about the
November 4th DVD release of
Reaper - Season 1, fans have been wondering about what sort of extras would be on board. After all, we told our readers that this would be "a 5-DVD set with 18 episodes, plus exclusive bonus material"...but we had no details about the bonus material at that time.
Now we've finally gotten a *little* bit of info about these supplements, and while it isn't much, we've decided to share it with all of you! The word from Lionsgate is that the set "
is loaded with special bonus materials including deleted scenes and commentary with cast and crew." That's an exact quote...and it's all we have so far. If we get any further details, we'll certainly let everybody know!
Also, a bit over a week ago we had the scoop on
package art for this 5-DVD set, and below you can see the same picture we had last time. Fans quickly noticed that there were issues with this graphic: the show's logo wasn't exactly correct (among other thing's it's missing the "devil's tail"), and that two of the characters shown on the cover together hadn't actually been seen together so far in the series. Perhaps in response, Lionsgate quickly updated their graphic with a note that says "Key Art Not Final". However, since then the same package art has shown up as illustrations at retailer pre-order listings, such as Amazon's at the button link below. We're told that despite this, the studio IS still looking into changing that cover art design, so stay tuned and we'll bring you any revised pictures once they're made available.
Finally, we know that there is a group of fans who are upset because there's not a hi-def Blu-ray Disc release for
Reaper - Season 1 happening on the same day. These are folks who enjoy this show as broadcast in HD, and they naturally want a hi-def home video release to go with it. We can say for sure that a Blu-ray version is NOT scheduled at this time, and frankly we're not certain why. We've tried asking around, but haven't gotten a solid answer so far. One *theory* is that Liongate's deal with Disney/ABC for the various licenses, that includes
Reaper, may only cover releases for those shows on standard DVDs, and not on Blu-rays. But that's just a theory, and we have no idea if there's any accuracy to it. If we find out what the reason is about this, then we'll do our best to pass it along!
