It's been over a month since we
broke the (rumored) news that Time Life would be the ones to release the complete
Real Ghostbusters set on DVD. We're happy to report that Time Life reps have confirmed the news, but have said the set, which we reported to be 26 discs, may be 27 or 28 - details are still being finalized.
They've also secured the services of the legendary DVD producer/author Andy Mangels. Andy is best known for the bonus material on the various Filmation shows released on DVD, including
He-Man,
She-Ra, plus his work on non-Filmation sets like
Dungeons and Dragons. We've been told he's already started shooting interviews for the set, and we can't wait for more details. If you're lucky enough to attend Comic Con in San Diego, be sure to check out TheDigitalBits.com panel - Andy will be there to talk about his work on the DVD set. It's Thursday (July 24) from 3-4 pm in room 5A/B.
Time Life is shooting for a Fall release, and with Comic Con just a few weeks away, we hope to hear more about this exciting DVD set. We can't wait to dive into the set this fall, taking breaks from the cartoon to play the upcoming
Ghostbusters video game from Sierra.
