In 2005, Universal released a DVD set with the first two seasons of the popular show starring Jack Klugman, but didn't follow up with the third season until 2009. Then, in 2012, Shout! Factory acquired the home video rights to the property, releasing the fourth season by the end of that year, and in 2013 releasing the fifth and sixth seasons of the series. But what of the final two seasons for Quincy, M.E.
on DVD? One of our readers, Barry Holland, sent an email to Shout! asking about that, and he's forwarded their response to us:
You'll be pleased to know that customer inquiries through our website helped get the last two seasons of this series on our production schedule. The release dates aren't set in stone yet, but look for season seven at the end of the year and season eight in early 2015.
Of course, those are the studio's CURRENT plans, and are far from finalized, so that information could be subject to change (or even outright cancellation, if any major obstacles crop up). And there's nothing in there which lets us know if this would be a release at general retail stores, or if it would be an internet-only pair of products from the "Shout! Select" program, and thus sold exclusively via the studio's online store. It's still well over half a year away (if the above timeframe holds), so stay tuned and we'll fill you in as further developments occur. Our thanks to Barry for sharing this with us!
