Here comes
Quick Draw McGraw: the high-falutin'est, fastest shootin'-est cowboy you ever saw! Industry rumors have reached our ears this morning that Warner Home Entertainment has decided on the next couple of Hanna Barbera Collection sets, and one of them is 1959's
Quick Draw McGraw series. The classic cartoon show also featured the horsey sheriff's sidekick, Baba Looie (we have seen that spelled MANY different ways, so we're going with the IMDB spelling), plus separate segments with well-known characters
Augie Doggie & Doggy Daddy, and
Super Snooper & Blabber Mouse.
Daws Butler was the voice star of
Quick Draw McGraw, and Don Messick was there, too. We have no idea yet when this is scheduled; at this time please consider this to be a rumor as it is not officially announced by the studio. However, our source indicates that this title and the other one (
Wally Gator) were mentioned among a series of briefs with a ton of people in the room (more than 30), so it's not like these supposedly seemed to be a big secret. We're glad to know it, and we're sure you are as well! Stay tuned and we'll have more info for you as developments occur.
NOTE:
Reader James Vipond has sent us to
a Cartoon Network link that shows the original model sheets for Quck Draw's sidekick, and on the model sheet the name is clearly spelled "Baba Looey." So consider this the proper spellling of that character's name. Thanks, James, for the info.
