It was a couple of months ago when we were the first to
bring you news that
Queer Eye for the Straight Guy was coming to DVD in a series of mostly "best-of" releases that would be staggered out among release dates in June and July. Now, with the June release dates fast approaching, we finally have some new info (well, a little bit) and cover art for you!
Trade magazine
Home Media Retailing has revealed that the 2-Disc "best of" compilations will each contain "
outtakes, photo galleries and other extras," in addition to the best segments in their themes. As we've told you, in June that will consist of
The Best of Carson's Style and
The Best of Kyan and Jai's Looking Good. Those will hit stores on
June 14th, although many brick-and-mortar stores aren't planning to get them onto shelves until a week later. Why not? Because that
June 21st date is when the
Queer Eye for the Red Sox DVD hits, which is the first episode of the brand-new season that will first be aired tomorrow night (6/7) on Bravo!
After rushing the new season's premiere episode onto disc in June, distributor Genius Products is going to give themselves a bit more time to get the July titles out. We originally reported a 7/12 release date, but Genius has pushed back that wave a couple of weeks, until
July 26th.
The Best of Home by Thom and
The Best of Ted's Food and Wine are the 2-Disc sets that hit on that date, with the same types of extras
Home Media Retailing has talked about above. On the same date you will be able to pick up the 4-item (8-DVD) box set
The Best of the Fab Five, collecting all of the releases EXCEPT for the
Red Sox.
Red Sox SRP's for $19.98 (1 DVD), the two-disc sets go for $24.98 SRP each, and the box set lists for $59.98 making it the best deal. Amazon's got great prices on all of these, and you can
pre-order every title right now! Courtesy of Amazon, here is the cover art for the first three releases in June:
