A few weeks ago we
reported that Amazon had struck a deal with Sony to exclusively release
Quark - The Complete Series DVDs early, on this past Tuesday, September 2nd, instead of waiting for the general release date of
October 14th. However, Amazon customers began getting notices via e-mail yesterday, stating the e-tailer was "unable to ship the item(s)
as soon as we expected", and providing a new estimated delivery date of shortly after the general street date. Many customers interpreted this to mean that the exclusive early ship date of September 2nd had been retracted.
We spoke with Amazon today, and we found out that this actually isn't the case. We were told that there were some last-minute shipping and production issues, which prevented Amazon from receiving the product on schedule, and that they expect to begin sending out orders in the next 2 or 3 days. So many of you won't have to wait until October after all; you will probably get your copy next week, in all likelihood, unless Amazon's stock runs out (which is unlikely, we're informed). In fact, "Temporarily out of stock" is the notice you'll see as of this writing, if you visit the Amazon listing for
Quark right now. But that won't keep you from placing your order if you still want to; you can do so at the button link below.
